John you’ve done it again. Opened up my chest and snatched up all my heart strings, this time with a subject and a character that are very close to my heart. Anxiety. Those living with anxiety should read his newest book “Turtles all the way down”. I’m not going to tell you what it’s about, but it’s amazing. ”You remember your first love because they show you, prove to you, that you can love and be loved, that nothing in this world is deserved except for love, that love is both how you become a person, and why.” - page 285 Song of the Day

If I die young read my words to the kids tell them it’s okay to cry in bathrooms and it’s okay to laugh out loud. Tell my father he was always my first love and tell my mother she is my inspiration. Tell my brother I am his biggest fan and tell my peach she sweetened my life. If I die young burn me naked with a single sunflower spread my ashes on the prettiest beach mix then with paint and capture the sunset. Plant a thousand magnolias and ten thousand sunflowers. Build a park and name it Seymone the name my mother gave me. If I die young let my words live on after me, for they are the only thing that is 100% mine, they gave me life, they are my horcrux, they hold my soul. ~ Song of the DayThe sound of bowling pins crashing behind us and the smell of generic cleaners sets the mood as I sit down with Censored Dialogue to discuss his upcoming album. As someone who is already close to him this meeting feels more like our checkin than an interview. He sits across from me and begins twisting his pink dreadlocks... Much like his body language and way of speaking habits, Jazz Johnson aka Censored Dialogue’s music is an aggressively sensitive album about his life, his dreams, and his fears. He discusses his abusive family and inner demons. As a young black man from Lawton, Oklahoma life is complicated and intense. Next add his gender identity and bright pink (now blue) dreadlocks and you're in for an interesting conversation. The mixtape, "ALABASTER SLIM" touched on all of those topics in a honest and enlightening way. As his big sis many of the things he described hurt my heart but I’m proud he said his peace. The album It kept this natural sound sound similar to his previous project Stockholm Syndrone. below is the full interview: Audio of the Day: |
